5.2 miles. 1,060 feet. 4:40 PM. Katahdin Stream Campground sign on the Baxter Park Tote (Perimeter) Road. The hike actually was 9 miles with a total elevation gain of 4,070 feet. It mostly rained with the temp in the 50s. We climbed Katahdin via the Abol Slide Trail to Thoreau Springs and then followed the Hunt Trail the last 1.5 miles which we retraced on the descent. We set up a car shuttle for the two miles along the road between trailheads.
