One of the most spectacular natural features in North America and perhaps the world, the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River extends for hundreds of miles across a portion of the southwestern Colorado Plateau. Here the river winds it way through a network of huge amphitheatres, spectacular tributary canyons, and isolated plateaus and mesas. The vertical drop to the river from the vast plateaus surrounding the canyon is more than 2000 meters, spanning more life zones than exist within any other U.S. national park. The Grand Canyon is more than a great chasm carved over millennia through the rocks of the Colorado Plateau. It is more than an awe-inspiring view. It is more than a pleasuring ground for those who explore the roads, hike the trails, or float the currents of the turbulent Colorado River.   • Dear Sirs; The depiction of this event is spectacular eventhough it did not happen as pictured. I need to tell you that the carving of the Grand Canyon could not have happened in a million years. It was created by a GOd who loves beauty and majestic things as he created the most minute detais of a single cell. Why do you not see this? How can you be so sure this occured over such a long period of time? Chick how quickly a canyon was carved whrn Mount St Helen errupted. THE GRAND CANYONS WERE CARVED AFTER NOAHS FLOOD WHEN A LOT OF WATER CARVED THE WET SOIL. CONSIDER TO ACKNOWLEGE GOD NOW SOMEDAY IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT.   • When I saw this picture, I thought that it would be interesting to have only the shuttle in a picture with the Grand Canyon and caption it as the shuttle flying through Vallis Marinaris on Mars. This one is still a fabulous picture, though!
