Hi Tony! For certain it is a Japanese Maple, but there are so many varieties, this is one of the lacy leaf types but I don't know the real name, other than BEAUTIFUL!

I love Jap. Maples! I hope to have one in a yard one of these days, when I'm not having to rent!

Probably a Japanese maple. I've pruned some like that, as tall as 14' - the weeping kind. Hard to tell if those are red leaves or not, but if seeds, those tree will produce red seeds on some trees. When I'm not working with trees, I'm hiking among them: http://www.mdvaden.com/grove_of_titans.shtml
