I'm not sure if you gained much dynamic range since both the island and tree are a beautiful black rather than some grey brown with some detail. I'd photoshop your flare in the cloud out though. I just got the D300 (replacing my D100) - and I love it. I'm going to be shooting a Best Beaches in Australia video in another year or 2 in HD - any suggestions?! This is a great beach composition - love it. Check out my pics and videos... you might like them too.

THis is EXQUISITE...Im not a photographer, so forgive the way I describe what I like...the sun obviously is setting, almost SET...you'd expect it to be darker,around the beach n water. Its not glaring at me, but sun still is bright; the sand is still obvious in color, as is the water - still can easily see that its beautifully blue. Ive never seen a photo capture the color this way, with the sun that far gone. I don't know how you did it but its beautiful how you framed the shot and breath taking in the light and color evenness..I hope in trying to get across what I noticed in this pic Ive not noticed before, I got across what I meant with some sense.lol Its all so perfect, no wonder it got POTD, congratulations! You deserve it and Queensland, Australia IS beautiful, and as you said,"unspoiled part of the wor. I have no clue what a high dynamic range composite from 5 bracketed pics from a D300 using PHotomatrix is...but it sure works ;o)
