Album Info:
Although the De Milly family recived the territory after its recpture during thr third Crusade. Later they sold it to the Teutonic German Knights in 1220. The German knights began to renovate the buildings of the estate and, following internal conflicts between themself and the knights TEMPLARS and Knights Hospitaller, it was imperative for the Teutonic Knights to leave Acre for a separate headquarters and the property was a natural choise. The collumn was a part of few collumns that where in a church within the fortress.

Too bad that disrespectful people deface it. That sort of thing happens all over the world, I guess.

Such a beautiful view of the valley below RAN. It must be pretty amazing to stand in the place where so many have stood before through the centuries. Wonderful and interesting set of 3 this week. Best wishes. Ray

It's marvellous that you can get right up on the roof like this. I shall have to look it up in Google and see what else I can learn about it. An excellent and enjoyable posting - goodonya mate!

Amazing shot, Ran. The column is awesome in its design, hard for me to imagine that in the 11th century they built this with such precision. Loved your 3 this week. Enjoy your week. Hugs, Susie

Another gorgeous shot! Thanks for the history lessons. I must remember to have my son sit down sometime when they come home to visit and read through your album. He is a pastor and loves church history and would thoroughly enjoy your captions and photos. Hugs, Sharon
