Album Info:

This shot conveys something of the geomorphology of the Gap. Softer rock from 60 million years ago has been worn down on both sides of the range. The creek, which has been there those millions of years, has descended with the erosion and cut through rust-stained quartzite rock; rock falls, where cracks weakened the cliff face, widened the gap; and lichen would have done its bit to dislodge flakes and grains to be washed away.
