Album Info:

One of the more beautiful and longest-enjoyed constellations, Scorpius hangs high in southern skies at the moment, looking like a sideways capital J. There are, and have been, as many sky lores as cultures. There's the Western one involving Hera's vengeance on Orion after commanding a fatal attack by a scorpion. Out of respect for each other the two never rise together in the same sky. In Maori (NZ) sky culture, Maui, chief of the gods, used a jawbone as a fish hook to dredge up islands from the underworld. When he finished he tossed the bone into the heavens (shades of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey!) where it lies outlined as the same stars.

    • Thanks for the astrology/cultural lesson. I always like to learn something new, especially when accompanied by a photo. Sheina in Argentina
