Australia's largest species of butterfly, the female is the larger, with wing spans up to 180mm. The smaller male butterfly (pictured) has green wings with black markings, while the female has black wings with yellow and white markings. The abdomen of both the male and the female is yellow and the thorax is red. This shot was taken in suburban Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Congratulations on being featured with this beautiful photo of this colorful butterfly. I finally captured a photo of a butterfly in my garden...I just posted it. Since I am still a beginner in photography, I didn't realize how hard it was to photograph one...so I really appreciate seeing a "pro" shot like this one.
