Album Info:
(00352) Red-throated Loons on the Kenai River 7-30-2007. Small seabird, smallest & slimmer of the Loons. Slim bill turns slightly upwards at the tip. During the breeding season the mature adult the mature adult has dark brown upperparts, a gray head and brick-red throat. Winter plumage is much paler, the throat becomes white, there are extensive white areas on the face, while the gray back is doted with a profusion of small white dots. The juvenile is gray-brown, sometimes with dull red markings on the throat. They dive to catch fish to eat.

They are sooo beautiful! And thank you for information. I had no idea they lost the red throat in the winter. Very interesting.
