On the back is the Basilica San Marco, resting place of the assumed relics of Mark the Evangelist. In the past this was the Doges' church and not the Popes'. A law was passed that every merchant traveling to the Orient had to carry something back for the church, which created a staggering collection of art objects.... I haven't been there though. I told you it was a quick tour!
