Album Info:
(02801) 9-27-2007 American Wigeon resting in Potters Marsh, Alaska. The male plumage is mostly brown with a white belly, grayish head and throat, white crown (hence it's nickname "Baldpate") and long green face patch running back from the eye (in flight the wings have a green patch and extensive white area on the upper surface and mainly white wing linings beneath). The female resembles the male but has no white on the head or green face patch. They both have a small blue-gray bill. They feed on aquatic plants, some insects and mollusks.
