Hooded Oriole (Icterus cucullatus sennetti)
joemorlan > albums > Texas - Jan 2006
Album Info:
18 January 2006 - Salineno, Texas. Here is another view of the adult male Hooded Oriole in winter plumage. You can see the broad black bib and more curved bill shape cf. the more pinched bib and straighter bill of the Streak-backed Oriole. This bright Texas race was formerly called Sennett's Oriole. The name Hooded Oriole appears to be a misnomer, although it is supposedly named for its orange hood. Texas populations have declined while California populations have increased in the last century.
