What a great photo. And what a great accomplishment. I have been on a tour bus to Denali Park, fairly close to the foot of Mt. McKinley. It is a beautiful mountain. I cheated, I Took MY pictures of it, from the plane. Didn't think I wanted to climb it. Have a great week.

Thank you so much for capuring this beautiful moment! Although I am unable to see her face, I am sure Lygon is communing with her Father God right at that very instant. I have had the privelege of knowing the Stevens family since Lygon was 6 months old. She was a beautiful child, and then woman...in every way. Her passion for an intimate relationship with the living God was displayed in her every action. She was a quiet girl who journalled extensively. Only upon her death, did even her family discover the storehouse of the treasures inside her journals. You may be interested to know that after the avalanche, when Nick returned to their tent not being able to locate Lygon, her last journal was there. Her final journal entry read..."God is good, and He has a plan for our lives that is greater and more blessed than the lives we pick out for ourselves, and I am so thankful about that. Thank you Lord, for bringing me this far and to this place. I leave the rest - my future - in those same hands and say Thank you." I am helping the Stevens family to create keepsakes; framed pictures of Lygon personalized with quotes from her journals...and our hope is that they will be able to generate the neccessary funds needed to recovery Lygon's body and bring her home when it is possible, as well as to publish her inspiring writings. Very soon they will also be available on the www.climbingforchrist.org website as well as the future site of lygonstevens.com. John 12:24 says, "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." Since Lygon's death...her life, her words, her example in her passionate relationship with God... many seeds have sprouted, many people have been inspired, many lives have been touched and forever changed. It seems more & more things are strengthening my faith everyday, and making me realize how important it is to put our trust in God & Christ. This featured POTD is a true blessing in many ways. My prayers are with this young lady's family. Losing one so young is very hard to come to grips with. One wonders throughout the years how they may have impacted the world had they lived longer. A beautiful tribute to Ligon Stevens and a wonderful POTD and album. My very best condolences to her brother Nick and family and I am sure she is in a Clmbers heaven if there is one. This photograph is very sobbering, with reading the second comment, and it is a beautiful legacy to Lygon. These expeditions are some of the most dangerous in the world! Granted I have never done this, but I have watched many documentorys about Danali. Lygon lives on in that Great Mountain in the sky, and will once again tell all her stories!

After viewing this photo, and reading the comments, I was moved to search for more information about Lygon. I found a fantastically moving memorial to her at http://www.climbingforchrist.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2447. I'm not a climber, but I wish I had the drive and courage to be. Lygon's descriptions of her love of climbing and love of God are the most moving words I have read in a long time. I had tears in my eyes. My prayers and thoughts are with her brother Nick and the rest of her family and loved ones. What an inspiration! ~Frank

Lygon Stevens has recently been tragically killed in an avalanche while climbing in Colorado, with her brother Nick. I have never seen a tighter sibling duo; I know this wonderful family personally. May Lygon climb the celestial mountains in peace.
