Album Info:

17 July 2007 - Boksburg near Johannesburg, South Africa This conspicuous bird was rather abundant throughout the areas of South Africa we visited. This one was perched on the roof of our hotel the first day of our arrival. This species is the sole member of the genus Alopochen. In the past (e.g. HBW) the specific name was spelled aegyptiacus. The spelling change is presumably for gender agreement. Olympus D-550z / Nikon FieldScope 3 / 30XWA (hand-held - no adapter).
