Album Info:

"(The Teachers Camp) opened its portals to admit American school teachers from all over the Archipelago on April 6, 1908. 150 tents were set up under the shade of pine trees for the use of the vacationists. It has since then become a fixed institution where school teachers get together once a year to profit from each others' experiences. Today, Teachers Camp is one of the Baguio’s points of attraction. Every year, teachers from every nook of the Philippines make their summer trek to the Camp. Permanent buildings have been constructed. It has an athletic field, mess halls, social halls and several comfortable cottages. The Camp site, which covers an area of more than 23 hectares, was known to the Igorots as the “Oring-ao”. The altitude of the Camp is about 4,570 feet above sea level, the air is normally cool through the day and surprisingly cold at times during the night."
