Album Info:

(0298) 2-2-2008 Native Village (Dena'ina Athabascan) of Eklutna , Alaska. A mix of Russian Orthodox and native funeral practices, the spirit houses are placed over a deceased person's grave for the purpose of giving a new home to the soul of the deceased. They are painted in the traditional colors of the deceased's family, and are often quite colorful.
