Album Info:
(0298) 2-2-2008 Native Village (Dena'ina Athabascan) of Eklutna , Alaska. A mix of Russian Orthodox and native funeral practices, the spirit houses are placed over a deceased person's grave for the purpose of giving a new home to the soul of the deceased. They are painted in the traditional colors of the deceased's family, and are often quite colorful.

The colors really brighten up the snowy scene! Thanks for the description, too. Until I saw your photos, I had never heard of these spirit houses.
