4 November 2006 - Coyote Point, San Mateo, California. This morning I took my ornithology class to the Coyote Point Yacht Harbor. Just as the trip was ending this strikingly patterned small duck flew in and gave everybody excellent views. This species is rare in the San Francisco Bay Area, but this individual has frequented this site off-and-on for several years. Olympus D-550z / Nikon FieldScope 3 / 30XWA (hand-held - no adapter).
