Black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia)
joemorlan > albums > Ohio-Crane Creek May 2007
Album Info:
18 May 2007 - Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, Ohio This common species acts more like a nuthatch than a warbler. Historically it was placed with the Creepers instead of the warblers. The monotypic genus "Mniotilta" is believed to have been derived from "Dendroica" as evidenced by its wing-bars, tail-spots and song. Personally I think it is more closely related to the zebras.
