3 March 2004, Clifton Court Forebay, Byron, Contra Costa County, California Olympus D-550z / Nikon FieldScope 3 / 30XWA (hand-held - no adapter). This is a very rare and spectacular species in California, but it's the 2nd I've seen in the last month. This individual is rather skittish, but I got lucky when he walked right up to me.
