I had downloaded this one a couple of weeks ago, and it just popped up on my desktop. After our conversation, it struck me that this has a Technicolor look to it, like one of the early color movies from WW2. Beautiful clouds, deep cyan ocean, that cream colored surf....very dramatic and fun to look at. Thanks for sharing the tips with me!

I've never seen anyone get so much emotion out of crashing surf, but you give this scene a life apart from the great motion of the seas. You have captured rapid movement at the critical moment but at the same time you've maintained a remarkable depth of field, skillful execution to be sure.

This is what I like about oceans: every wave seems a tsunami. The incredible crashing sound, the amounts of water tumnbling and racing all over the beach, the knowledge that if you try to swim there you will surely die (if you're not an experienced surfer.) We have a full gale at the moment here, force 9, and I am packing for Italy. Elio Pallard (pansaram) will meet me at Pisa Airport tomorrow morning and then we will first go to Lucca for a bit of sightseeing, though it's raining cats and dogs in Italy too.
