We had exactly the same thing last night in a windblown snow. Slater, CO It only occurred in a small acreage, other wide open spots did not have as many snowballs, they were mostly cylinder in shape

Really nice shot. We actually had these here in southern Illinois several years ago. We had some that were as big around as a 5 gallon bucket!

This is so pretty! I live in Idaho, USA and we do get a lot of snow here, however I have yet to see the wind make natural snowballs! The best I get to see is the snow being blown like dust to the wind. What an awesome natural creation!
