Piegan Glacier over time

Album Info:
Piegan is one of the few glaciers that hasn't shown much change over the years. However, look at how the vegetation has changed as a result of fire suppression, climate change, and the near elimation of the keystone species of white bark pine. The top picture features the rounded white park pines, and is taken from an open meadow. In the bottom picture, the white bark pines and the meadow are gone, and the sup-alpine fir has taken over the whole area.
