Album Info:

These shearwaters occur in two/three color morphs, but we saw only dark morph birds on this trip. They were very common, and often were attracted to the boat's chum. This species is widespread in tropical Pacific and Indian ocean waters. One of the trip organizers cryptically mentioned to me that these Australian birds are different from the Wedge-tailed Shearwaters in Hawaii and have different vocalizations. However, no subspecies are currently recognized. 27 August 2005, Tasman Sea off Wollongong, NSW, Australia.
