Album Info:
I took this picture in an old abandoned miners quarters. This was the only shot I could get as the books were on a shelf about 8' high and we were on a guided tour. I have no idea what the white stuff is above. Needless to say this man was well-read for his time.

Being a book lover, this photo is very beautiful to me! I wonder, if the white stuff could be lime spilled out of a bag nearby....since it was in a mining area?

Congratulations on being featured and thank you for sharing! It's a pity that you were not able to take more shots, as it is an interesting subject, but this picture is well composed and the lighting is very appropriate. I doubt whether the white stuff is mould, as there would then be some of it on the books. It might be something put there to absorb moisture to help preserve them or just plain dust highlighted by the flash and perhaps magnified, if this was a crop. Kind regards, Kathryn

your picture has really old-fashion romantic moon... it seems to me white stuff behind is like snow... emotionally photo reminds those long evenings in past historical centuaries when the manners of spending time were sitting near fireplace and enjoying unhurried talks and reading books

i don't know what the white stuff is either.. but could it be mold? the books look like they are in pretty good shape for their age... but then you might pick them up.. and they you just disintegrate in your hand.
