Seems someone taught these birds to read. Halls Gap, Victoria, Australia. Actually, previous owners of the motel had trained the Kookaburras to perch here in the evenings. Kookaburras can't read. Not like Koalas. Where I live there's a road sign that says 'Koalas Cross Here at Night'. And they dutifully do. Mind you, when the kookaburras drive in in their cars they will go up in my estimation. 'Roos around these parts of Victoria are reasonably smart as well. They can read pictograms. (See later photo.)
