Album Info:
06 January 2007 - Asa Wright Nature Center, Trinidad http://www.asawright.org/ We saw this large Stick Insect on a night walk around the Center. They are masters of disguise, blending in with the foliage. Most species are dormant during the day and active at night when they feed on vegetation. This family includes some of the largest insects in the world, some species reaching a length of over 12 inches. This one was smaller, probably less than six inches, but notice the long antennae. Does anybody know the precise species? Olympus D-550z (no scope 3X optical zoom). Flash fired. No sharpening filters.
