Album Info:
The Dettifoss is a waterfall located in northeastern Iceland, not far from Mývatn. It is situated on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier and collects water from a large area in north-east Iceland. It is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe, having a flow variously estimated at between 200 and 500 cubic metres of water per second, depending on the season and the summer ice melt. The falls are 100 m wide and have a drop of 44 m down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. Dettifoss is located in the national park of Jökulsárgljúfur.

This IS glacial melt water...you know "pure glacier water". What a joke that bottled water is labeled that way :). Glacial water is anything but "pure". It's full of solids that are called "glacial milk" that the glacier scrapes aways as it grows and recedes. A bit down river from Dettifoss, another river joins it and you can really see the difference between the beautiful blue pure water of the incoming river and the opaque tan of Dettifoss's river.
