I am gobsmacked to have had this photo chosen in #3 position in this week's 'red' creative challenge. Sadly time does not allow me the opportunity to thank each and everyone of you individually. I would, however, like you all to know how much I appreciate all the lovely comments which have been so kindly left for me. I am overwhelmed that my entry has received this much attention. It just goes to show that you should never give up. My gratitude and sincerest thanks go out to each and every one of you...

Great shot. I remember running through this field once as a child when my dad took us there to pick up a crop. I was told that this field is a crop of poppies that will end up as morphine in the hospitals.

a well deserved win! THis is just stunning! Do you know why it got so much praise? Besides being beautiful, do you know how rare it is to actually see a field especially of this size of beautiful POPPIES? I don't even think I have ever really seen one..they are such a rare flower,..at least I think they are..rare where i live in Utah..not one ..unless it is in someones garden somewhere..I tried growing them from seed once...they didn't even break the seed! I thought I did everything right..but no they don't grow here well. so yes, the is amazing! A DL on my screen saver!

This is breathtaking! CONGRATULATIONS! My sister was just telling me yesterday that in April or so there is an area around here (San Luis Obispo County, CA) where there are fields and hills that explode with flowers like this. I can't wait to go take photos. I can only hope I capture one as beautiful as this! ~ Jess
