Album Info:
Bob and I have been wandering all over Missouri Botanical Garden for over 15 years plus and this week was the first time we had seen the fruit on this tree. The ID tag on the tree calls it a Spindletree (common name) and Euonymus bungeana (scientific name). I tried to research it on the internet, but didn't find much help. I did see one photo where the leaves were red, so maybe in a couple of weeks, the tree will be in autumn colors! I'm not sure if the birds can eat the fruit, but I sure hope so! And for reference as to size of the tree, I have included a fourth photo this week of the entire tree. Seeds/fruits don't show up very well from a distance. P1180840

Hi again Sharon, Just been reading your resume above, and see that you are not sure if the trees turn red in autumn. They do! Given a warmish autumn they go firey red. If you would like to see my 'baby' in autumn, go to my album 'AUTUMN CHANGES IN MY OTHER GARDEN', and see the last three photos. Beautiful colour!.... Hope this helps, Sheila.

Hi Sharon. I love this photo. I love spindle berries. I recently bought a little shrub for my garden, which has had a few flowers, but so far no fruits. I hope, one day, that it will reward me as generously as yours has. Thanks for another lovely picture, God bless, Sheila.

A lovely tree, another one I had never seen before. Such soft pink colors offset by the deep red and green leaves.

Sharon dear, funny as I logged on the list popped up and my eyes caught your water lillies, but first I had to handle my many emails...half is spam of course... Wonderful shot with our ole Lumix...I try to go next month to one day train trip to G. Canyon...and will take THREE cameras with me...as all three are good for certain shots, but what I am using now is EOS Rebels Macrolens, as I do mostly indoors photography.. WHere 5 months in arow is tripple digit heat, there you cant walk out even to roll down ur ccar is dangerously hot...SO I needed a good lens for Macro..You are my idol in photography, wish I coudl ever climb up to your standards...Husg dear Sharon...Marra

How pretty Sharon & Bob. It's always nice to find some unexpected treasures along our way. I love the seed pods holding the two or three tiny fruits. Wonderful photo. Thank you for the research. It was very interesting. Ray

This is a very unusual tree, Sharon. I have never seen one with little seedpods like this, very colorful. Another name for this is Winterberry, but I never found out if birds eat the seed either. Pretty image tho. Hugs, Susie
