Album Info:

Prominent on Nepean Point is a large statue of French explorer Samuel de Champlain. After all, it was Champlain who first explored the Ottawa River in 1613. The predecessor of the National Capital Commission created Nepean Point in the early 1900s. In 1967, the Astrolabe Theatre (named after the navigational instrument Champlain holds in his hand) was created to better view the sound and light show for Canada’s centennial.
