Album Info:

Edeni Lodge, Trichardtsdal, Limpopo Province, South Africa July 19, 2007. It was amazing to see these striking animals stoop to browse from the tops of the Acacia trees. Like all mammals they have only seven neck vertebrae. Their loping gate seems slow, but because of their long legs they can outrun most predators and have been clocked at over 60 kph. This is the nominate race found in South Africa. Seven other subspecies are found to the north. They differ mostly in coloration and the patterning of spots. This is a male. Canon PowerShot S3IS.
