This is an old granite marker in Hazen Notch alongside VT 58 commemorating the historical record of the building of this road in 1779. The print engraving has weathered with time and I can only make out Road and 1779. The weather for today's hike was partly cloudy with a temperature in the 60s. Ideal weather for hiking after the last two hot sticky days.
