The cones are small and woody with spirally arranged scales. They are from my Mugo pines, also known as mountain pines (pinus mugo). (p0023-393k)

  • We didn't see much snow this winter here in the southern Finland. But it is now quite cold, luckily also sunny. Soon I must go out to buy food for the 3 days. I don't enjoy it at all.. I like to cook dinner but I don't like the shopping. Too many people in a tiny market. And too little space between. I remember with happiness those days of my childhood when on such days as this one we had to stand outside a little shop and queue in order to get inside:-) And people were always served from behind the counter. How did we then manage that? Maybe more saleswomen? Milk was sold in bulk. Butter likewise. They had not invented the cardboard boxes for liquids yet. All this has little to do with pine cones, sorry:-)
