Album Info:

28 January 2007 - Ballona Creek Mouth, Playa del Rey, Los Angeles, California. This is a regular winter visitor to rocky coasts of California, but appears to be seriously declining. An analysis of Christmas Bird Count data by Ed Pandolfino and James Helmericks demonstrated significant declines in recent decades from an apparent population spike in numbers in the late 1970's. An abstract of this paper is available at: http://www.wfo-cbrc.org/Abstracts_2005.d oc Reference: Pandolfino, E. & J. Helmericks. 2005. Changes in Winter Abundance of the Ruddy Turnstone along the Coast of California. Western Birds 36:121-130. Olympus D-550z / Nikon FieldScope 3 / 30XWA (hand-held - no adapter).
