Album Info:
It's cooled down a little here in Missouri now, so Bob and I have been going on our daily walks around one of the lakes in the Fountain Lakes Park here in St. Charles. I was happy to get a shot of these two butterflies along the trail around the lake. And I didn't notice the bug on the leaf on the left top of the photo until I loaded it on the computer. If this is not Swamp Milkweed, please let me know. P1160084

It sure looks like the milkweed we have around our lakes that the butterflies love so much. Your two certainly are attracted to it! And that bee - or whatever he is - to the left - wow! How fun to have a surprise guest in the photo! ~Sue

Very nice shot. I've never seen these butterflies before. It almost looks as if the bug is watching and saying "Hey, I want some of that milkweekd too"

My godness, Sharon with this kind of shots you touch my heart. I like the close up with fuzzy background, the bright greens the pastel flowers and butterflies. You got the bug additional. When I took wildflower shots next the trail between fields I noticed later what all I got, some more bugs I had first seen.

You got it, Lady. It is positively a variety of the Swamp Milkweed. Asclepsis incarnata. You need to collect some of the seed pods. They make gorgeous dried arrangements. And you might want to plant some in your yard. This is a lovely shot. I think you got some that I am having trouble catching. Those smaller ones are a real pain to get and you got TWO!!!!

We love these beautiful yellow butterflies and we would like to take such lovely photos from them as you have... but they are so nervous that we never get good shots! Also the plant is beautiful! There are probably different species of this beautiful flowers. Have you seen the new Milkweed Album of Marion? (marionw104102)

Your eyes are drawn to the beauty and contrast of the yellow butterflies and lovely pink flowers that it was easy to over look the interesting little bug.I don't know what the flowers are but they are lovely and delicate and we do have these butterflies in Australia they are tiny....Sandra

Love the yellow butterflies, Sharon. Another colorful shot with these beautiful wildflowers. I think for sure it is a milkweed plant but I'm not familiar with the swamp variety. It's a beauty for sure. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Susie
