Eared Grebe (Podiceps nigricollis californicus)

Album Info:
18 February 2006 - Lake Merritt, Oakland, California. I liked the shape of this Eared Grebe which nicely shows the fluffy rear body and peaked crown. This species is called Black-necked Grebe in the Old World. North American birds have a longer bill and less white in the wing than Eurasian populations.
