Edeni Lodge, Trichardtsdal, Limpopo Province, South Africa July 19, 2007. http://www.edeni.com/ This is the smallest bee-eater in South Africa. This was one of two individuals that landed on the road in front of our vehicle during a game drive. This photo shows the thin blue supercilium and faint blue line above the dark chest crescent characteristic of the subspecies M. p. meridonalis which ranges in East Africa south to Natal.
