    • Frank, your trio of splendid frogmouth photos are a thrill for me! Photo 1 is riveting, as this family stares back at the viewer with those huge, nocturnal eyes. And then you actually watched & photographed their metamorphosis into tree branches?! WOW!! How amazing! Their camouflage seems more than just feather color & pattern -- to me, their feathers appear bark-textured, as if they would feel as rough as a tree branch. Also in Photo 3, the parent's slightly open mouth shows an upper palate color of yellow-green (so it looks to me), as if to mimic the sunlit leaves above! Now my only wish is that you catch one of them at full gape! Excuse the liberal use of exclamation points... but I still get quite excited about birds, even though am not a very active birder these days. Thanks so much for letting us see the wonderful wildlife of Australia. G'day to you too! Julie
