The Appalachian Trail is like the I-95 of hiking paralleling the east coast along the range of the Appalachian Mountains. It has the best amenities of any hiking trail with ladders, rock steps, shelters and good signage to aid you for its entire length. Then you come here and all that is gone as you pick the best way you think thru this tangle of rock and caves. There is no easy way. You figure it out.
