Album Info:
The Mining Bee is one of a number of species that make up the bulk of British Columbia bee species. Like the name suggests these bees living in holes in the ground. Unlike honey bees they are solitary and do not have queens. They also do not sting, but can bite if provoked. Note; The one pictured is a female. Males are smaller. This bee was a third of the size of a Domestic Honey Bee.

Really a teriffic image!!! And as usual your intelligent facts for an education. Just watched a "60 Minutes" segment (in Seattle) this evening about the declining Honey Bee population in the U.S.! THAT's a serious concern! I'm going to guess "60 Mintes" slips across the border up your way???? Anyway, your presentation here is another piece of your wonderful work! Gary in Seattle
