help.. I don`t know their name.. even if I just found out that their name is Japanese lanterns (thanks, Andrei!;), I`ll call them "Mabel's red thing-a-ma-tillo-bobs" because they are dedicated to her, from all my heart ;)

Nice, photo Andreea, and if I can recall what these are I will let you know. It is on the tip of my tongue. I just got some garden catalogs, and I know from the past this plant is for sale in some of those catalogs. You are so creative in how you name your photos that you don't really need to know their name. Anyway, I will try to tell you latter.

yes, I know scumpa chief that tomatillos are green, but I assume this thing-a-ma-till-bobs are green as well, at one point in their life...I have seen them in romania and I remember seeing them green when young...and the shell is just like that of tomatillos...they are identical when they are young, in summer...but never saw them in winter...therefore who knows exactly what these are...a mystery fruit...you can have them all scumpa chief, and you also eat them if you dare!

and scumpa Chief has arrived on the scene!!! lalalla .... and I know their name! of course, it's *** "Mabel's red thing-a-ma-tillo-bobs" *** !!! How could you all not know???? lalala ... PS .. tomatillos are always green, as babies and as adults ... I grew a bunch one year and even froze them .. they do very well here ... lalala .. yep, scumpa FAKE is quite the smarty pants - great in salsas! I prefer green!!! oh, when tomatillos turns old, their "cascara" outter shell turns brown ... nope, not red at all ... these things are ***

they resemble the tomatillos (a veggie/fruit) used in Mexican salsas or dishes), except I only saw tomatillos green...unless they are never left to turn red before they sell them in stores. Scumpa Chief will be able to confirm or deny this.
