Album Info:
This relative of the Barn Swallow lacks a breast band and has much darker underparts than Eurasian (Barn) Swallows. It was endemic to Australia, but has spread naturally to New Zealand. This is presumably the nominate race which is slightly smaller than the race carteri of Western Australia. However, some authors recognize Queensland birds, such as this individual as belonging to the race parsonsi which has less white in the tail. 16 August 2005, Cairns Esplanade, QLD, Australia.
