House Wren (Troglodytes aedon)
joemorlan > albums > Ohio-Crane Creek May 2007
Album Info:
19 May 2007 - Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, Ohio This nondescript but aggressive species was abundant and breeding. It is primarily a cavity nester, and famous for destroying the eggs of other birds as well as other House Wrens. The villain is usually a floater male seeking to usurp an established male member of a nesting pair. They are successful at this about half the time. This is presumably the widespread eastern subspecies T. a. aedon. Canon PowerShot S3 IS 12x
