This is essentially an Australian endemic although it has strayed occasionally to New Guinea. The sunlight was favorable to display the subtle purple, blue and green iridescent colors on the back of this bird. This species gets its name from the plume of yellowish feathers hanging from its neck. 19 August 2005, Mt Carbine, QLD, Australia.
