Space shuttle ready to be refueled over sky of Seattle

Album Info:
During the first ever around the world non-stop virgin flight propelled by traditional jet engine and fuel, the space shuttle is getting ready to be refueled by a refueling tanker over the sky of downtown Seattle. (GOOD NEWS) Hi! Thanks so much for viewing my “Space Shuttle and Military Composite Pictures” album. Since so many people like the pictures in this album (it has got more than two million views), I have chosen 81 pictures and published them in a picture book. Please go to www.blurb.com and search for "Luming Marr" to preview this book. Thanks! Seattle tourist attraction: Space Needle -- The 605 foot (184 meter) Space Needle was designed by Edward E. Carlson for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle. The futuristic structure has become a symbol for the city, and is home to festive events such as the annual New Year's Eve fireworks display. Photo credits: Picture of the Space Shuttle Discovery is from NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Image of an inflight refueling operation from an HC-130P tanker to an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter in the sky over southern Louisiana is from U.S. Air Force by Tech. Sgt. Rob Jensen. It is part of the search and rescue mission conducted by Air Force Special Operations Command based at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Picture of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) passing the Seattle Space Needle in downtown Seattle as part of the parade of ships for the 55th annual Seafair Festival is from Navy by Journalist 1st Class Ralph Radford. Seafair is Seattle's month-long traditional summer festival, which includes parades, amateur athletics, air shows and boat racing. This Photoshop composite picture was created by Luming Marr on March 4, 2007. Please note the event depicted in this picture and caption did NOT really happen in the way as shown. Good Photoshop graphic design concept and calendar publishing idea example. Good photography course textbook supplemental reference and practice picture material.

Yes I agree, it looks as if the space shuttle is a flat on image however the refueling jet is turned away on a slight angle further they would never do a refueling at such a low altitude, further the space shuttle has been build to fly as a glider on returns and can not fire it's engines for inner atmospheric flights, for this it can only be flown piggy back on a specially designed 747. The space shuttle also does not have in flight refueling capabilities. Nice try brainer..

Thanks for the Humor shots, they reminded me of a composite shot circulating during the Viet Nam era in Nam, of the astronauts stepping from the space shuttle onto the moon surface, with a cow patty beneath the ladder on the moon."Giant step for mankind"..

HEY, HEY, HEY I wish the people of this country, the U.S.A. were all stupid ... unfortunately, we are not.About the picture, there is a grievous misalignment between the shuttle and the tanker. This is a NO NO in midair refueling. The light armoured carrier looks like a hunk of wall in the foreground. The carrier's island appears to be a make-shift shack in the rivers of Hanoi or Singapore. Without the space needle, the whole edificious scene looks like Hongkong. And outside of this picture, to the knowledge of even the boy scouts of America, the shuttle's engine cost millions of dollars to design for tremendous thrust which is not available from the burning of aviation fuel. Pardon me but I am still looking for some wrecks in this image.

This is a fascinating picture, and just as fascinating is what someone can do to create composite images. I first thought that the Shuttle had actually flown by Seattle and was curious when it had happened. Then I read the details of the picture.

Thank you for this cool photo. My name is Aviation Ordnamceman 1st Class Donald Jackson and is currently attached to the BHR. I made that visit to Seattle ( my first) and it is truly a beautiful city. I'm also a big fan of the Space Shuttle program since I was a kid, and to see this picture on the internet is simply awesome. I would like to send this out to the rest of my BHR shipmates so we all can enjoy. Once again, thank you. D.J.

WOW! I'm a little timid on saying anything. I am, well, let's just say I know some about both programs with the Space Shuttle and NASA quite well! Not on an official basis but still. I may be a little "red faced" at this moment, and it IS 4 o'clock in the Morning! so, I will use THAT as an excuse! I read it interestingly, something wrong?..... and then, ..the reminder. But, Concrats!!! This is a very well done piece! I have not luaghed this hard in 5 Years! (Mostly at myself!)
