Album Info:
This view is of the Cmdr. McCool Memorial Statue and the white streak is a 30 second time exposure of the ISS (International Space Station). The visibility of the ISS peaked dramatically as sunlight reflected off the enormous solar panels. The path of the Space Station was known from published data but the reflected sunlight was an unexpected bonus! This time lapse ISS image is similar to those made by "Iridium Flares" as predicted at the website heavens-above. However, this event was much brighter as the reflecting surface is many times larger than the Iridium satellites. The photo is a 30 second time exposure at ISO 400 using a Canon Rebel XT.
