Steve and Bob are with the rowboat at Black Mountain Pond. Friday, June 18, 1971. This boat was the best of the three ponds (if you want to call the raft at Greeley a boat). The weather this day was clear and warm. The elevation here is 2200 feet. Much of the ten miles of hiking from Flat Mountain Pond here was along an abandoned logging railroad bed. There still was currently a logging operation we could hear going on about a mile from here.
