Long-billed Dowitcher (Limnodromus scolopaceus)

Album Info:
17 January 2006 - Leonabell Turnbull Birding Center, Port Aransas, Texas In winter plumage, this species is almost impossible to distinguish from the Short-billed Dowitcher. I suspected this bird was a Long-billed, based on the fresh water habitat, very long bill, and unspotted chest. When the bird flew and called, that tentative identification was confirmed. Again this bird was sheltering from strong winds allowing very close approach. This photo is uncropped.
