(0026a) FEATURED POTD 3-20-2008 NEWS CHANNEL. 2/22/2008 Friday. Open World Championship, they call it the Nascar of Dog Racing. Sled dog Racing has been a Rondy classic since it began in 1935. The Open World championship Sled Dog Race is considered the grandfather of all Alaskan races, it consists of three day heats over a 25 mile area of Anchorage, beginning and ending at 4th and D streets in downtown Anchorage.
