Album Info:
As the sun's last light vanishes in the western sky on June 29th, an evening moon rises in the southeast over Mt Humbug. This view is from Battle Rock Park, in lovely "downtown" Port Orford. During the following evening, based on one definition, there will be a "blue moon", but apparently not in the western hemisphere, where it occurred on May 31st because of the way time zones are established. According to Wikipedia, the term blue moon has at least four related meanings, including the following: "One modern blue moon definition is a result of a misinterpretation of the Maine Farmer's Almanac, where a second full moon occurs in a calendar month. The older definition of blue moon is for an extra full moon that occurs in a quarter of the year, which would normally have three full moons, but sometimes has four. Oddly, it is the third full moon in a season that has four which is counted as the "extra" full moon and named blue moon. Oh my God!! This is so extraordinarily beautiful! It looks like a path to the sun!! It is like the Golden Ratio! It is transporting to another dimension and there are these magical runes, these fascinating graduating X shapes in the sand and the sea leading the eye to the silhouette of land on the horizon where the light is reflected from the mystical sky! Ethereal beauty so deep and enchanting, a masterful photograph, one of your very best!!

What a romantic moon. This picture just pulls you into it and you can almost feel the dampness of the water and hear the gentle slap of the waves. What a glorious picture.

OMG! What an incredible capture this is. Since we are using the same camera, I am wondering how you captured this shot. Is this from your setting on your camera, or is it from something you do in photoshop? This is so unusual. I remember that "blue moon" day and I was driving up to Seattle from my home here in Lacey. The morning traffic was awful that morning and off an on that morning, the disk jockeys were talking about the blue moon at length and also playing all the different versions of that particular song. A memorable day!
